Less than half a mile from Ballingeary, a malevolent female spirit was said to terrorise travelers, emerging from the shadows to confront them with a riddle. Those who failed to answer correctly met a grim fate—whether from sheer terror or the deadly grasp of the phantom’s demonic hand.

The region lived in fear until a local man, Michael Creedon, successfully solved her riddle, banishing the sinister entity back to hell and restoring peace to the area.
