Local folklore tells of a priest who was called to give last rites to a dying man. He decided to take a shortcut across someone’s land but was spotted by the landowner. The landowner showed no pity and ordered him off his property at gunpoint. Consequently, the priest was too late and the man had died by the time he got there. The story continues that the priest cursed the landowner’s property, and that a family did indeed leave because of strange happenings on the property.
Another version of the old story replaces the priest with a pregnant lady. She took a shortcut to the doctor, and was told to get off his land. The lady died because of the delay.
