In 2007, a woman named Martha went public with an extraordinary claim: her home at Allenton Green in Tallaght had been overtaken by a violent poltergeist that ultimately forced her and her three children to flee.
Martha reported living in the suburban house for 12 years, during which she said the paranormal disturbances grew steadily more aggressive following the death of her husband. Objects were seen flying across rooms, doors slammed without cause, and she claimed that unexplained bite marks appeared on her legs. It wasn’t only Martha who suffered—her children were allegedly punched, hit and kicked by unseen forces. In one particularly disturbing incident, two unexplained gas leaks were discovered in the attic, raising fears that the house could have been set on fire.
Rumours circulated that the estate had been built on an old graveyard containing hundreds of forgotten burials. A psychic later told Martha that the property sat on powerful lay-lines that attracted supernatural activity, and claimed to remove “eight ghosts a day” during repeated visits.
Martha’s story gained national attention when radio presenter Jeremy Dixon spent a night in the house and reported his own unsettling experiences on the Adrian Kennedy Phone Show.
Eventually, exhausted and terrified, Martha packed up her children and moved to her mother’s home, vowing never to return to the house again.
