Rothe House

Rothe House
Gardens, Kilkenny, Ireland.

Rothe House is a late 16th-century merchant’s townhouse, nestled on what is now a a busy shopping street in Kilkenny city centre. The house was built by John Rothe Fitz-Piers and incorporates three houses, with enclosed courtyards and beautifully recreated garden.

The building is reportedly haunted by the spectre of a tall man, possibly a priest. His seven foot frame has been sighted walking through a door and towards the Phelan room. Witnesses have also reported hearing footsteps emanating from empty rooms.
