Many thanks to L. Johnson for suggesting that I include Queen’s University in this directory. I validate all suggestions and do my own research before publishing to see if there’s any more information I can share, so sometimes it can take a while for me to process them. Queen’s University was founded in 1845 and is now ranked in the top 200 universities in the world.

Students studying on Queen’s Campus have witnessed apparitions in the corridors, while those studying in the library have reportedly seen an elderly gentleman walking through a solid wall and “mournful cries” have also reportedly been heard in this area.

Another tale tells of a tunnel that connects the Ashby and David Keir buildings. These buildings are opposite the Friar’s Bush Graveyard which (of course) has its own stories to tell. The tunnel runs parallel to a mass grave referred to as the “plaguey pit” and it is claimed that several staff will not use the tunnel as they believe it is haunted by the poor souls that are interred just a few feet away. There are reports of cold spots along the length of the tunnel, and of people being touched by unseen hands as they walk through it. One (fanciful) story even tells of how two staff members were so afraid that one of them grabbed the other’s hand just after they entered the tunnel. They rushed through but when they got to the other end, they discovered that their colleague was some distance behind them and it wasn’t their hand they had been holding.

In the 1980s, several students residing in student accommodation at Alanbrooke Hall, experienced alarming phenomena, with one describing what he had seen as “pure distilled evil”. You can read more about that here.
