Many thanks to L. Johnson for suggesting this location.

The land on which Newlands Golf Club sits on was once the site of Newlands House, which was the residence of Lord Kilwarden, the Chief Justice of Ireland. Lord Kilwarden’s life came to an end in 1803 when he was pulled from his carriage and murdered by a mob on Thomas Street, Dublin.

Golfers have reported hearing the sound of Kilwarden’s phantom carriage, making its journey down the gravel drive of the golf club, repeating the same journey on the day Kilwarden was murdered.
