Main Street, Prosperous
Prosperous, Kildare, Ireland.

The spirit of a man, locally nicknamed “Limping Liam”, has been seen on occasion, walking along the main street in Prosperous, Co. Kildare.

The story goes that “Liam” was killed during the Easter rising and his body was loaded on to the back of a horse drawn cart. His supposed corpse fell off the cart near the church but the poor man picked himself up and hobbled approximately 50 yards to the crossroads where he fell and died “again”. The likelihood (of course) is that he was severely injured during battle and that he was brought back alive with the bodies of his comrades, and stumbled off the cart. Anyhow, his spirit is said to remain here to this day.
