Many thanks to L. Johnson for suggesting that I include Lismore Union Workhouse in this directory. I validate all suggestions and do my own research before publishing to see if there’s any more information I can share, so sometimes it can take a while for me to process them. Site users are (as always) welcome to suggest an amendment or to add their own experiences.

Sometimes, evidence of an alleged haunting is too vague for me to include it without query. A site user, or another source, may have referenced activity at this property or in the immediate vicinity, but as yet I have been unable to verify it. If you have had an experience at Lismore Union Workhouse or you can add further information, you can suggest an amendment here.

The Lismore Workhouse was constructed in 1840 and was designed to accommodate up to 500 inmates. In later years, the property was used as a hospital, then as a training centre for the local fire brigade. It is now a private residence.

When fire officers were training here, it is said that they would sometimes hear strange voices calling on their radios. Other strange occurrences have also been reported here, but I can find no detailed information.
