Lavey Strand

Lavey Strand
Lavey, Cavan, Ireland.

Many years ago, a gentleman by the name of Paul Keon was returning from a fair in Cavan town, heading to his home in Lavey. While enroute, he was startled when the ghost of a priest suddenly appeared in front of him and requested his assistance. The priest asked that the gentleman take him to see the parish priest of Lavey. Fortunately, the house was nearby, located on the main Dublin road.

On arrival at the priest’s house, Keon knocked on the door and asked for the priest to come out. He then witnessed the two priests having a lengthily conversation in Latin. On conclusion of the conversation, the ghostly priest suddenly disappeared leaving Paul startled and alone with the living priest. He was given a stiff drink to calm his nerves before the priest asked him to promise that he would not recount his experience to anyone until after the priest had died.

Paul kept his promise and only revealed details of his experience when he attended the priest’s wake a number of years later.
