This distinctive thatched building dates to the 1870s when an agricultural supply shop opened on the site. According to local stories, officers stationed at the nearby Garda station used to sneak into the pub using a hole in the wall, and that is how the pub got its name. Of course, that could just be a story!

The ghost of a nun has reportedly been spotted on the stairs near the main entrance, and this spectre has been seen by staff as well as patrons. Customers have also reported an ominous feeling in the certain parts of the old pub.
