Flax House (Debunked)

Flax House (Debunked)
Belfast, Antrim, Ireland.

This location has either been included based on the experience of a site user or where a reputable source has referenced an alleged haunting either at the location or in the immediate vicinity.

Flax House was constructed in the early twentieth century and was operated by handkerchief manufacturers McBride & Williams. Some sources, including a printed text by a respected author, link the story of Helena Blunden and a plethora of paranormal phenomena to this location. But if Helena existed, she may well have worked at a flax mill, but it wasn’t at Flax House.

And yes, I am questioning whether Helena even existed – I can find no record of her using the dates given in the various stories shared about her.

Flax House was empty for thirty years before it was renovated in 2016. Several planning applications were put in over the years, some were rejected, and some were withdrawn before the final plan was approved. The building was empty while this went on. Marketing literature includes photos of the property before work began on the restoration, and multiple media outlets referenced the length of time the property had been idle at that time. So there is no way a printing firm was based here during the 1990s as per some of the stories I have seen.

Maybe Flax House is haunted and if you have information, do hit “Add Your Experience”, but the alleged supernatural activities linked to this property seem to fit better with the Conway Mill.
