Coill an Fhaltaigh

Coill an Fhaltaigh
Callan, Kilkenny, Ireland.

Many thanks to L. Johnson for suggesting that I include Coill an Fhaltaigh in this directory. I validate all suggestions and do my own research before publishing to see if there’s any more information I can share, so sometimes it can take a while for me to process them. Site users are (as always) welcome to suggest an amendment or to add their own experiences.

Sometimes, evidence of an alleged haunting is too vague for me to include it without query. A site user, or another source, may have referenced activity at this property or in the immediate vicinity, but as yet I have been unable to verify it. If you have had an experience at Coill an Fhaltaigh or you can add further information, you can suggest an amendment here.

A man in black has been spotted, standing by the bushes that line the road through Foxcover Wood (assuming this is Coill an Fhaltaigh / Callan Forest). One witness described the figure as wearing clothes from the late nineteenth / early twentieth century, complete with a flat cap.

The witness found the encounter odd and mentioned it to some people he knew from the area. One informed him that there was once a cottage in the woods and that it had a black gate. Locals were always warned to “beware the black gate”, although I have no further information as to why! Presumably the figure relates to that property. Another local shared that he had seen the same figure walking near his own house and that he rushed out to see what he wanted. But the figure had vanished.
