Bellview Clinic

Bellview Clinic
Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland.

The former county infirmary is one of the oldest buildings in Mullingar, dating to 1771. The hospital closed in 1936 and the building then served as a library. It is now home to the Bellview Clinic.

When in use as a library, a student was working late one night in one of the upstairs rooms when she heard noise coming from the lower floor as if books were being moved around on shelves or falling on the floor. She assumed it was the caretaker, but she later discovered that he had not been at work that night and that she was in the building on her own. A mysterious figure dressed in a nightgown was also seen in the building, gliding along a corridor and through a wall.

The building owners eventually asked a priest to bless the building and it would appear that all has been quiet there ever since.
