Ballyloughan Castle

Ballyloughan Castle
Carlow, Ireland.

Ballyloughan Castle dates to c1300 and is located near Bagenalstown in county Carlow.

The structure is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a priest. He was hiding from Royalists and took refuge at the castle, but the owners betrayed him and he was later hanged. Shortly after his execution, strange sounds were heard in the passageways of the castle. His restless spirit is still believed to walk the rooms, and he may also be responsible for the unearthly noises that emanate from the remote building.
