Ardilea Street, Belfast

Ardilea Street, Belfast
Belfast, Antrim, Ireland.

Sometimes, evidence of an alleged haunting is too vague for me to include it without query. A site user, or another source, may have referenced activity at this property or in the immediate vicinity, but as yet I have been unable to verify it. If you have had an experience at Ardilea Street, Belfast or you can add further information, you can suggest an amendment here.

John Savage was born in 1814. He began his career working for a grocer as his apprentice, before applying his skills in the linen trade. The young entrepreneur would go on to build Prospect Mill on Flax Street which manufactured thread and spinning flax, and over a long and successful career, he became the mayor of Belfast in 1872. But on the 15th of June 1883, Sir John Savage took his own life in his home in Ardhill. No reason was given for this devastating conclusion to an otherwise full life.

According to sources I have seen, his ghost was said to roam properties along Ardilea Street but these accounts are rather vague in nature. The street today is also very different so I am putting this down as a rumour. If you have information to share, please Suggest An Amendment.
